1972 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS – VIDEO WALK AROUND

Here we have a Cranberry Red, 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS with a numbers matching LS3 402 cubic inch big block V8 and Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission.

This restomod is fitted with a 12 bolt rear 3.55 Posi, SSBC front disc brakes and Magnaflow exhaust. The engine was rebuilt with a .604 lift roller cam.

The Chevelle V8 402 cubic inch, 240 hp four-barrel engine was a $166 option when the car was ordered new. Being an SS would have added $350 to the order value. The vinyl top was also an option coming in at $92.

There were a total of 24,946 SS models built for 1972. SS extras included a special suspension which the brochure described as; a Sport Suspension that gives SS remarkable handling qualities on the road.

All Chevelles with SS on the fender came with power disc / drum brakes, a black grille, a special domed hood with lock pins and a left-hand remote control sport mirror.

The base 2-door hardtop coupe Chevelle fitted with a V8 came in at $2759 (with the six costing $2669). The Malibu came in at around $200 more with the SS being the sport option of the Malibu.
